Your Child's Problems Clinical

Heather is a Licensed School Counsellor with the NH Depratment of Education in the USA and a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  She initially trained in Speech and Language Therapy, (B,S Hons) and then went on to train in Counselling (M.Ed in Counsellor Education Hon's) before becoming a Practitioner of Therapeutic Play Skills (PG Cert Therapeutic Play Skills) and has recently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy to become a Certified Play Therapist.

Heather has worked for 11 years with children with disabilities & difficulties including autism, learning disabilities, language delays, selective mutism, children with histories of abuse and neglect, divorce, school and social difficulties and emotional-behaviour problems. 

  Agency Work

Previous areas of work include Child Residential homes, Schools, Private Child Care settings, Early Intervention Special Needs programmes and with Social Services.

 

Training

Heather has trained staff members in the use of therapeutic play skills within play schemes for children with disabilities and training days can be arranged to suit the needs of your organisation or staff by contacting childreachinfo@yahoo.co.uk

Training topics can include, but are not limited to, Attachment and Bonding, Therapeutic Behaviour Management, Parenting Support and Using Therapeutic Play Skills in the school and home settings.

  Accreditations

Certified and Registered PTUK Play Therapist.

Diploma in Play Therapy - the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (APAC) validated by the University of Canterbury, accredited by BACP and PTUK.
